Hello Smart Cookies!
Everyone has a dream. My dream is The Smart Cookies! Growing up as a child in Philadelphia, academics never came easy to me. I found that different ways of learning and teaching methods worked best. Also, learning new types of study habits gave me more options to succeed. My successes in my academic career were due to my preferred learning style and mentors who guided and inspired me. Not just select teachers, but coaches and uncles, and the generation before me who I valued their opinion and advice. I went to Rutgers University where I learned how to learn. My dream was beginning!
After Rutgers, I explored the country and traveled. Finally, I listened to my family and friends’ advice and received my Masters in Education. They would always say, “Collin, you should be a teacher since you’re great with kids”. From that point on, I worked with children and discovered a passion that wasn’t there before. I taught at private and public schools, while listening attentively to parent’s stories and grievances about tutoring companies. They expressed what they really wanted in a service. Regardless of the State (Pennsylvania, Hawaii, California), there were children just like me who needed my expertise in explaining academic content in a different way. After tutoring and witnessing success stories in the process of full time teaching, I wanted to inspire thousands of children. I found my niche.
The Smart Cookies became reality in August 2011. My mother and many others helped guide me through my childhood academics. She was a hero. My mother guided me towards a life journey that will enable me to help parents, just like her, reach their child’s learning style. The Smart Cookies (TSC) is here to help the hero in you inspire your child on their academic journey towards their dream.
